Weekly Meeting
featuring
Bridget Trosin, Marine Spatial Planning Specialist
Bridget Trosin of Washington Sea Grant is working with communities and organizations on the coast of Washington to provide information about the State’s initiative on marine spatial planning. They, along with The Nature Conservancy, are reaching out to the local community to hear their input, concerns, suggestions and advice on this topic.
Marine spatial planning is a process for coordinating decisions for coastal and ocean activities and uses into a comprehensive plan. The Washington state law outlines some basic principles and requirements to guide a marine spatial plan, which will be the building blocks for setting goals and objectives of the planning process for Washington’s coast. This includes requirements such as honoring tribal treaty rights and existing uses. The law also specifically requires marine spatial plans to address the siting of marine renewable energy.
Meetings are open to the public and are held at JT’s Sweet Stuffs, 80 N. Forks Avenue
Lunch will be Green Tea Smoked Salmon or a selection of soups.
