    Funds raised will benefit the SOS fund (Soroptimist Oncology Support) which helps defray travel expenses for cancer patients.

    Native Pathways to College Day @ Olympic Natural Resources Center
    Friday: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

    Native youth, young adults, educators, elders, and leaders from tribal nations located on the Olympic Peninsula are invited to ONRC for a fun-filled and experiential day of learning about the opportunities and adventures that await students who attend the University of Washington. The presenters, from the Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity, will provide information on applying to the UW and on resources available to native students on campus. Several representatives from UW departments will meet with the students to help them better understand these academic majors and associated career paths. Peninsula College will also present information about its degree programs and the process for transferring to a 4-year university.

    Our first day is Saturday, May 18, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, in our beautiful, park-like location south of the Forks Timber Museum, 1421 S Forks Ave, across from the airport (on Hwy 101 at the south end of town).  We will be open every Saturday until October 5.

    In addition to our regular artisans, crafters, and vendors, we will be hosting Swap Meet days on the first and third Saturdays of June, July, August, and September.  There will be a wide variety of items to browse through, changing each Saturday.   

    Are you a crafter or artisan? Do you have items to sell? We are still only charging $5 per space each day, collected near the end of the day.  You can be there one day, once a month, or the whole summer. If you have questions, you can call Corinne at 374-6332, or come to the market and ask.   Come to see, come to sell, come to buy!

    Ocean & River Resources

    “Save the Date” on May 18th for the 5th Annual Ocean & River Resources Fair & Potluck Barbecue in Forks that is sponsored by the North Pacific Coast Marine Resources Committee (NPC MRC).

    This year it will be at the UW Olympic Natural Resources Center (ONRC) from 4:00 to 9:00 on Saturday May 18th.  This is an open-to-the public event.  We look forward to displaying as many local natural resources organizations and efforts as possible. There will be student & professional movies and formal presentations in the Hemlock Forest Room, display booths and student poster displays along the covered hallways, volleyball on the lawn, with music and food in the ONRC Social Hall.

    To Write and Keep Kind: A Portrait of Raymond Carver @ Forks Campus of Peninsula College

    Raymond Carver

    This 1992 PBS documentary chronicles the life and career of short story writer Raymond Carver.  It features interviews with Carver, Alfredo Arreguin, Richard Ford, Tess Gallagher and others.  The film will be introduced by English and Literature professor, Glynda Schaad, who will also lead a discussion immediately following.  This screening is part of the Peninsula College Raymond Carver Festival: a Celebration of the 75th Anniversary of His Birth.
