The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Management section is holding a public meeting at the Forks High School Cafeteria on Wednesday, March 27 from 6-8 pm. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss natural and or man-made vulnerabilities that face members of the greater Forks area and listen to thoughts folks may have for projects to mitigate damage or threats to safety folks may have. For example, perhaps there is concern for a Cascadia level earthquake occurring and the survivability of the Fire Station in Forks is questionable. Perhaps a mitigation project would be to refit the station to bring it up to higher earthquake resilient standard. This is part of the ongoing effort to up date the Clallam County Hazard Mitigation Plan of which the City of Forks is part of. Other cities and political subdivisions are also participating. We have already has one meeting in Port Angeles, and now it’s the west ends turn to have a say in what is in the plan.
