Dive under the sea with the North Olympic Library System (NOLS)! Adults and teens 13 and older can experience Ocean Rift virtual reality, an immersive 360° video, using Oculus Rift and Go headsets. Explore a vivid underwater world full of life including dolphins, sharks, whales, manatees, and habitats ranging from coral reefs to shipwrecks and prehistoric seas!
Ocean Rift sessions will be held as drop in sessions at the Forks Branch Library on Saturday, October 12, from 12pm – 2pm. The Sequim Branch Library will host sessions from 1:00 – 3:15pm on Tuesday, October 22, and the Port Angeles Main Library will host sessions on Wednesday, October 23 from 1:00 – 3:15pm. Registration is required for Sequim and Port Angeles sessions. Register at nols.org, or by calling your local branch.
Using VR has potential safety concerns; participants must be 13 years or older (no exceptions). Adult participants must sign a release waiver, and participants aged 13 to 17 must have a parent signed release waiver. Waiver forms are available to pick up in advance at the library. VR programming is part of a partnership with the Washington State Library, Oculus, and the University of Washington Information School to bring educational opportunities to library
communities around the state. Additional funding for this program comes from the Friends of the Library groups.
