10,000 Years Institute presents “Pulling Together – Coastal Jobs in Restoration”
The Pulling Together in Restoration Project (PTIR) is a landscape-scale jobs-in-restoration program working across three counties to prevent the spread of invasive species in coastal watersheds. Through cost-effective containment, and community-based education and engagement, the program trains and deploys local crews to find and control non-native plants that impact local forestry, agriculture, fish and wildlife, including Scotch broom, tansy ragwort, reed canarygrass, and knotweeds. Preventing harmful non-native plants before they turn into costly and long-term problems is cost-effective, and with local jobs, supports the local natural resource based economy.
