WORLD KINDNESS DAY

The Forks Branch of the NOLS will be celebrating World Kindness Day on Tuesday, November 13th, with feel good activities all day, because, as Aesop said, “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”

Drop by Forks Branch Library to add your kind words and artistic flair to community cards being created for residents of Forks Long Term Care and patients at Seattle Hospital.

Additionally, a film screening and book giveaway featuring the uplifting book-to-film hit Wonder will take place at the Forks Branch Library at 4:00 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served at the showing.  Wonder stars Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson and Jacob Tremblay and is based on the heartwarming, award winning novel written by R. J. Palacio.  A limited supply of free copies of the book will be available at the screenings.  Please one copy per family.

The day wraps up with mindfulness at the Library, with an after hours session of gentle yoga and kindness-themed meditation at 7:00 p.m.  Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or beach towel.

PAWS to Read @ Forks Branch Library
Nov 16 @ 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

PAWS to Read

Watch your child discover the joy of reading with a little help from a furry friend at the North Olympic Library System’s (NOLS) Forks Branch Library. Canine pal Tally and her trainer Sherry Schaaf from Olympic Gentle Paws Therapy Dog Club. This is for children of all ages.

Research shows that the more a child reads, the more their reading skills improve. Children are sometimes reluctant to read aloud because they feel unsure or self-conscious. Reading to a dog or other pet provides a non-judgmental audience and encourages children to read with confidence.
