Planned Power Outage
Jun 16 @ 12:01 am – 6:00 am

A planned power outage will affect electric service to the West End beginning at 12:01 am on Sunday, June 16, and lasting 6 hours until approximately 6:00 am. This planned outage will affect all customers west of Lake Crescent (approx. 5,600 customers).

The outage is required for Bonneville Power Administration to conduct work on their transmission lines as well as substation maintenance. Clallam PUD crews will also take advantage of the outage to conduct pole replacements.

Automated phone calls went out to those customers affected by the outage. **IMPORTANT** – if someone did not receive a phone call, then we do not have a current contact phone number for them and ask that they contact us to update their information.

For food safety tips to prepare for the outage please click here.

For generator safety information click here.

For more power outage information and tips visit our Outages – Be Prepared page.

Customers with questions may contact: 360-452-9771 or 1.800.542.7859 or info@clallampud.net

More About the Summer Reading Program
The theme for the 2019 Summer Reading Program is A Universe of Stories. This summertime celebration, which encourages children to keep reading during the summer break from school, features a reading challenge with fabulous prizes, and a multitude of events for all ages. Research shows that children who do not read during the summer experience “summer slide” and may lose up to a month of the instructional knowledge they gained during the previous school year. Library summer reading programs have been shown to help alleviate the “summer slide” by providing access to books, enrichment activities, and encouraging young people to keep reading. The 2019 Summer Reading Program runs      June 15 through August 17.

Virtual Reality NOLS Summer Reading Program 2019 @ Forks Branch Library
Jun 21 @ 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

As part of the North Olympic Library System’s annual Summer Reading Program, A Universe of Stories, check out Virtual Reality at the Library! Adults and teens 13 and older can experience immersive and interactive 360° video using Oculus Rift and Go headsets. Explore America’s National Parks, The Body, Mars Odyssey, Star Chart, Everest, and more! Virtual Reality (VR) sessions will be held at the Forks Branch Library on Friday, June 21 and July 5 from 12-4pm, and the Clallam Bay Branch Library on Saturday, July 13 from 1-4pm. These drop-in VR experiences will be about 15-20 minutes per user and are on a first-come, first-served basis with a waiting list if needed.
Using VR has potential safety concerns; participants must be 13 years or older (no exceptions). Adult participants must sign a release waiver, and participants aged 13 to 17 must have a parent signed release waiver. Waivers are available to download at nols.org/virtual-reality, or can be picked up at NOLS branches.
Virtual Reality programming is part of a partnership with the Washington State Library, Oculus, and the University of Washington Information School to bring educational opportunities to library communities around the state. Additional funding for this program comes from the Friends of the Library groups.
