The Forks Open Aire Market is an organization of local craftpersons, artists, gardeners,
sellers and swappers, coming together on Saturdays to showcase and sell our crafts, arts, wearables, edibles, growables & swapables.

Do you have a craft you enjoy?
Would you like the opportunity to sell some of the items you create?

Are you a successful gardener?
Would you like to sell your abundance to those who welcome fresh produce, flowers or plants?

Are you an artist or photographer
who would like to showcase your creations?
Do you have items in your house or apartment that you would like to sell?
Are you a sales agent for a company, and wish to enlarge your customer base?

We want to help!

 Rents 10 ft by 10 ft spaces for only $5 per Saturday,
collected at the end of each Saturday.
You provide your own tables, and canopy if you wish one.
Join us for one day, once a month, or the whole summer.
We welcome new members, and understand it can be difficult to begin a new enterprise.

Please Join Us at the Hoh Rivermouth on the Hoh Tribe Reservation for our Third Annual Surf Camp in Partnership with the Hoh Tribe. We will be camping near the river mouth on Friday Night July 13th and on Saturday Night July 14th. Volunteers should be on the Beach by 9am, July 14th for Orientation, and it is recommended that Volunteers for this Camp arrive the Night Before.

Warm Current runs yearly one-day surf camps in communities all along the Oregon and Washington coasts. These surf camps are free of charge and open to all youth in the local, coastal communities where we work. Our camps are designed to provide a fun and healthy experience (surfing) that will attract and engage youth to the health benefits of outdoor recreation and provide a long-term platform that focuses on a healthy and active lifestyle, environmental education, and community service.

  • Help youth build self-esteem, self-confidence, and leadership skills.
  • Increase access to surfing in order to promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
  • Introduce a stewardship ethic by providing educational activities
  • Promote community engagement by involving youth and adults in local service projects.

NatureBridge: Summer Backpacking Program

7-Day Olympic Mountains Wilderness Adventure

Dates: July 15 – 21, 2018
Ages: For students entering 10th, 11th, and 12th grade, or who have just graduated high school

Experience the best that Olympic National Park has to offer on this seven-day excursion. During this program, you will:

  • Spend four days backpacking through the Olympic Mountains, arriving at a new campsite each afternoon.
  • Experience what it’s like to be a field scientist by conducting ecological research.
  • Learn the basics of backcountry travel.
  • Hike about 5 miles a day, carrying everything you need in a backpack weighing 30-40 lbs.
  • Form new friendships.

This backpacking trip is perfect for all experience levels, including those who are new to backpacking and those who already love backpacking but have only have a week to spare this summer! No backpacking experience is necessary and financial aid is available.

Cost: $1,150

Calling all junior scientists! Explore tidepools with staff from Feiro Marine Life Center and the North Olympic Library System

On Monday, July 16 at 9:30am, meet at Slip Point Lighthouse at the end of Frontier Street in Clallam Bay to explore the low tide! Learn about sea stars, anemones, and other treasures of the sea.  Attendees should wear sturdy non-slip shoes and bring a favorite lab assistant (an adult) to help with the investigation. All ages are welcome to attend; youth 12 years and under should be accompanied by an adult.

National Disability Voter Registration Week

The American Association of People with Disabilities and EveryLibrary are bringing the REV UP Campaign to libraries across the country including the North Olympic Library System (NOLS). REV UP stands for Register! Educate! Vote! Use your Power! The REV UP Campaign coordinates National Disability Voter Registration Week each year in July to increase the political power of people with disabilities while also engaging candidates and the media to recognize the disability community.

The League of Women Voters will be assisting with on-site voter registration at the Forks Library at the following times:

Forks History and More @ First Congregational Church

Forks History and More

The West End Historical Society and Forks Timber Museum announce that they will combine efforts for their monthly programs.

Every third Tuesday, these historical presentations will be brought to you at the First Congregational Church,  a short board meeting Timber Museum Board meets at 11:30 a.m. and the WEHS meeting starts at noon.

November’s program will be a presentation of some of the Historical Society’s old slide photographs from the late 1800s to mid-1900s.

December’s program will feature Lonnie Archibald talking about his new book, “Keep on Truckin,” with a book signing to follow.

Please come join us for these lively presentations and discussions. You are welcome to bring your own items to share and we encourage questions.

The museum board meetings and historical presentations are free and open to the public

Red Yarn is Andy Furgeson, a dynamic family performer who weaves folk songs and puppetry into an engaging show for all ages. With his energetic performances and lush folk-rock recordings, this red-bearded bard shares positive values while reinvigorating the American folklore tradition for younger generations. Furgeson is a musician, puppeteer and educator from Austin, Texas, based in Portland since 2005. His 5th album, Red Yarn’s Old Barn was recently released in the Spring of 2018.
