Rainforest Council for the Arts Printing Class

Artist Paul Blake will be offering a printing class on Saturday, Sept. 8 at the Rainforest Art Center. A grant is paying the instructor’s fee and students will only be charged $10. The class will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Paul will bring the paints and most of the materials. This is a rare opportunity to take this class for a minimal fee.

The class has been in the works for a long time so Rainforest Council for the Arts is thrilled to have it scheduled. We will be printing on black fabric with things like ferns using very special paints and colors. You will learn basic printing techniques that can be applied elsewhere. Watch for details about registration. Members of RCA get first opportunity to register, class size is limited.

Contra Dance @ Rainforest Arts Center
Sep 8 @ 7:00 pm

Contra Dance

The Rainforest Council for the Arts is sponsoring a Contra Dance this Saturday, September 8,  the Rainforest Art Center in beautiful downtown Forks, beginning at 7:00PM.

There are no steps to learn, so don’t worry about being inexperienced. Every dance is taught before the music begins, and the caller will give you verbal instruction throughout each dance. The majority of dancers will be new to contra dance. Come on down for a fun time. This is a great way to meet people, visit with friends, and have a lot of fun while getting exercise and listening to good music.  Please join us.  Non-dancers are also welcome, and seating is available for those who want to just watch and listen.

Hope to see you there!!!

Washington CoastSavers International Coastal Cleanup

The International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) is a global cleanup effort organized by the Ocean Conservancy each September. Washington CoastSavers serve as local cleanup coordinators in Washington State. Trash found at ICC events will be counted and included in an annual index of global marine debris to be released in 2017. Last year, nearly 800,000 volunteers collected over 18 million pounds of trash from shorelines around the world. The data gathered at ICC events provides information that can inform policy solutions and identify target areas where preventative solutions will make the biggest difference. ICC events also raise awareness of the pervasive marine debris issue and bring together people and organizations who care about the health of our waterways.
