Family Storytime @ North Olympic Library System Forks Branch

Family Storytime

This story time series will take place Friday September 14 and every Friday through May 31, 2019

Family Storytimes feature stories, music, rhymes, and plenty of movement and fun! Activities such as talking, reading, playing, and singing all play an important role in early childhood development. After each session, parents and caregivers will have an opportunity to visit and swap information about parenting resources in the community.

Magic of Cinema “Minor Differences”

Please join Magic of Cinema, PC Forks, and the PC Library for a screening of Minor Differences, the story of five juvenile offenders in maximum security lock-up. Their powerful first person stories illustrate struggles to overcome childhood trauma and incarceration as they transform from boys into men.

After the screening, please stay for a Q-and-A session, hosted by the Port Angeles Racial Justice Collective, with the film’s creator Heather Dew Oaksen.

Books and Cookies: a book discussion group for 5th & 6th graders

 

Fifth and Sixth Graders! Want to hang out and talk about books? Join friends new and old for Books & Cookies at the Forks Branch Library of the North Olympic Library System! Talk about books, characters, and authors YOU love! Share and discuss your favorite titles with others and hear about new books that you may want to read in the future. There will be cookies, book conversations, and fun with friends!

This “just for fun” book group is for students in the 5th and 6th grades. Meet at the Forks Branch Library, at 3:30pm on the first Friday of each month beginning October 5.

DANCE LESSONS ARE BACK @ Forks Congregational Church Fellowship Hall

DANCE LESSONS ARE BACK!

Dance lessons will be held at the Forks Congregational Church in the Fellowship Hall.  There is no cost, but donations are welcomed to help offset traveling expense for our teachers, Terry and Jane.

Dates for the lessons are October 19th, November 2nd, 16th and 30th

Beginners are always welcome!  No partner required!

TWO FILM SCREENINGS- FORKS CAMPUS

Peninsula College and Quileute Youth and Family Intervention invite the community to screenings of two documentaries about the emerging science of adversity; how high doses of stress during childhood get into our bodies, change our brains and lead to lifelong health and social problems.

Paper Tigers:  Wednesday, November 7th at 6:00 p.m.

Resilience:  The Biology of Stress & the Science of Hope:  Wednesday, November 14th at 6:00 p.m.

Screenings are free and opened to the public.
