Forks Open Aire Market @ Park area south of the Forks Timber Museum
    Saturday: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

    FOAM

The 2013 Forks Open Aire Market is OPEN!

Our first day is Saturday, May 18, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, in our beautiful, park-like location south of the Forks Timber Museum, 1421 S Forks Ave, across from the airport (on Hwy 101 at the south end of town).  We will be open every Saturday until October 5.

In addition to our regular artisans, crafters, and vendors, we will be hosting Swap Meet days on the first and third Saturdays of June, July, August, and September.  There will be a wide variety of items to browse through, changing each Saturday.

Are you a crafter or artisan? Do you have items to sell? We are still only charging $5 per space each day, collected near the end of the day.  You can be there one day, once a month, or the whole summer. If you have questions, you can call Corinne at 374-6332, or come to the market and ask.   Come to see, come to sell, come to buy!

    UPDATE:

Effective this coming Saturday,  July 27, the Forks Open Aire Market will be hosting a Swap meet EVERY WEEK!  Along with the new vendors we have this year, we will be welcoming sellers of garage or yard sale type items.  If you have items to sell, come on out, check in with the site manager, and set up at the Forks Open Aire Market.  We are open every Saturday from 10:00am to 3:00pm, with set-up available after 8:30am.  We are still located at the parking lot south of the Timber Museum, across from the airport.

Evening Talks at ONRC @ Olympic Natural Resources Center
    Friday: 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

The ONRC cordially invites you to our upcoming program that features one of our local “feathered friends,” the Pileated Woodpecker.

    WHEN   Friday, October 18, 2013 ● 7:00 PM

    WHERE Hemlock Forest Conference Room

    Olympic Natural Resources Center

    1455 S. Forks Avenue, Forks

Coffee and desserts will follow the program.

    PROGRAM TITLE

“A new neighbor on the block: Pileated Woodpeckers in Seattle’s suburban areas”

Most of us think of the Pileated Woodpecker (Dryocopus pileatus) as a mature or even old-growth forest species. That’s why we use them as indicators of forest health. However, wildlife observers now see them migrating into the suburban areas in the greater Seattle region. Why is this? How are they doing? Are they successful, or it is just the remains of a past population, using what is left of the forest that is been taken over by housing developments?

University of Washington School of Environmental and Forest Sciences doctoral candidate Jorge Tomasevic will share his experiences with this species in this most unusual setting.

Jorge A. Tomasevic is a part of the Wildlife Science Group at the UW. He came to the United States as a Fulbright Fellow from Chile. From the cold forests of Patagonia to the arid desert of Atacama, from the native forests struggling exotic pine plantations to the heights of an island in the Pacific Ocean or up high in the Andes, Jorge has participated in several research projects dealing with the ecology and conservation of forest birds and endangered species in Chile and now in the Pacific Northwest.

Everyone is welcome; no RSVP needed for this program and no admission is charged. Funding for this presentation is provided by the Rosmond Forestry Education Fund.

Feel free to share this invitation with your friends and family. Come on by and enjoy this most interesting topic!
